Bookmaker giant Betfred has extended its long-standing partnership with Playtech until beyond 2020.
The new deal includes the renewal and extension of Playtech’s casino content, progressive jackpots and access to more than 600 games.
Betfred will also take part in Playtech’s exclusive licensee cash casino network promotion on new DC-branded film and television properties. This new promotion will be launched at the end of the month and continue for four weeks.
Titles such as Warner Bros and DC like ‘Batman Classic TV Series’, ‘Man of Steel’ and ‘Superman’, the promotion will feature across Playtech games, such as ‘Buffalo Blitz’ and ‘Halloween Fortune 2’.
“Agreeing today’s extension is a great way to start 2017. Playtech are one of our most important partners and enable us to offer our players the industry’s leading gaming experience,” said Rakesh Chablani, managing director at Betfred.
The deal also permits Betfred players to access Playtech’s bingo, poker and live casino games as well.
“We’re delighted to have agreed this renewal with Betfred, one of our key partners and licensees. I’m also very pleased on a personal note. Betfred was one of the first contracts I put together when I joined Playtech more than 10 years ago so to agree this with them until beyond 2020 is fantastic news,” said Mor Weizer, chief executive of Playtech.
GVC Holdings and Betfred have now parted ways after nine-year collaboration. The two parties ended their association just a year before the contract was due to expire.
In May 2016, the two companies put pen to paper, which ensured that GVC could offer its online sports platform to Betfred exclusively.
Full migration of Betfred's online business was covered under the agreement, with the GVC platform offering a unified account.
The two firms released a statement this week and informed stakeholders that this decision was arrived at “by mutual consent”.
According to the statement, the deal was “reached amicably, with no penalty clauses triggered by either party”, and that now both brands will be able to execute “greater flexibility to develop their businesses going forward”.
In a rather interesting new development in the world iGaming, Russian bookmaker Fonbet launched a licensed online betting service in the country.
In doing so, Fonbet became the sixth player in Russia’s online sports betting market.
The bkfon.ru online sports betting platform will conduct all its transaction via a centralized TSUPIS system, in line with payment processing rules and regulations in Russia.
Fonbet is part of the Russian Bookmakers Self-Regulatory Organisation and acquired its license from the Roskomnadzor national regulatory body.
bkfon.ru will now function alongside other operators like Liga Stavok, Winline, 888.ru, 1XBet and Leon.ru.
It remains to be seen how the new player in the market performs. Considering other brands are well established, these are definitely interesting times for Russia’s sporstbook market.
Online betting company Codere Apuestas have joined hands with Spanish football giants Real Madrid for a new partnership.
The Spanish-facing brand entered into a three-year agreement with the La Liga side that runs through to 2019.
Codere Apuestas is not new to Spanish football. It has already gained tremendous amount of visibility in the country due to previous associations.
For the 2015-16 season, Codere Apuestas was Valencia’s shirt sponsor.
Emilio Butragueño, director of institutional relations at Real Madrid, said:
“Today we started a journey that in principle will last three years, although our desire is for it to be long-haul.
“Our club is admired by millions of people for what our institution represents; it is synonymous with success but is also identified by its code of values.
“That is why it is so important to choose our partners well and today we have the honour to present an alliance with Codere, with which we have an important thing in common: a Madrid firm with universal appeal.”
Several betting companies have previously collaborated with football clubs. However, an association with Real Madrid is actually a big deal for any betting brand considering the attention and love the club commands not just in Spain but across the world.
